Remembering the Sixties

This layout and the idea came from a card my friend and upline, Linda Heller did a couple of weeks ago. But I’m a child of the sixties…I said sixties not hippies so I thought I would add a little 1960’s to the card. I wish it were a VW Van but you can’t have everything. The car does tells the story and the rainbow…well think of it as a headband. IMG_1266

Perfect Quick Photo Backgrounds

If you need a quick and good base and background on which to photograph your projects with your iPhone i.e. smartphone or iPad, I came up with this solution. Use two pieces of card stock or patterned paper. Lay one sheet against the screen of your laptop and one across the keyboard. You can then balance your camera, phone or iPad on the table. I used this method to photograph the birthday card shown in this post. I found the layout for the card on the internet. Thank you very much for the use of your sketch.

You can choose the color(s) that best shows off your project. The photos show the same card photographed on different colors and patterns. The card stock or Designer Series Paper (DSP) is not damaged and is ready for another project. You can also angle your laptop screen to the best angle for your photo.

Wetlands…reminds me of home.

My sisters and I lived some of our childhood years in Florida where we spent many days at the beach and when we moved to Charleston, SC there were even more days at the beach. As children do, we would run after these little sandpipers and of course, they would scamper away from us. In and out of the water both the little birds and my sisters and I would run. Small things do bring back happy memories.

I wish I could remember the name of the artist that did this original layout. The way I used the drafting tape to color the background was by trial and error. I like the way the color are muddled together rather than in a straight line.

I love this Designer Series Paper. Yes, I know it’s retired. But I thought you might like to see this card I made for my grand nephew. He turned seven years old and we share the same birth date…no news about my age. This was a fun card to make so I made two…one for him and one for me.
